Pastor Jerry G. Jerkins was more than a spiritual leader—he was a tireless advocate for justice, equality, and community empowerment in Clarksville-Montgomery County, Tennessee. For over six decades, Pastor Jerkins stood on the frontlines of civic and social change, dedicating his life to uplifting the African American community and fostering unity across the city.


As president of the Clarksville NAACP from 1975 to 1987, he led protests, championed civil rights, and worked to ensure fair employment and representation for African-American citizens
He played a pivotal role in establishing the Wilbur N. Daniel African American Cultural Center at Austin Peay State University and was the primary and instrumental lead in the naming of Wilma Rudolph Boulevard.
